Summary
The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe is the story of the four Pevensie children who are taken in by The Professor because they are evacuated from London. While all of the children, Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter, are looking around their new home, they find a closet. Lucy, the youngest of the four, walks into the closet and admires how soft they are and keep going back, only to find the coats never end. Lucy looks down at her feet and then sees snow. She then finds herself in Narnia, at a lamppost. A half goat half man named Tumnus approaches her and they get acquainted. The two go back to Tumnus' house and have tea. Tumnus tells Lucy that Tumnus isn't the person Lucy thinks he is. The White Witch had given orders to all of the Narnians that if they had ever to find a "Son of Adam" or "Daughter of Eve", they have to give them to the White Witch. Until the "Sons of Adam" or "Daughters of Eve" are given to the White Witch, it will be forever winter. Tumnus becomes very sad that he has to do turn Lucy over, and even starts to cry because he had become such good friends with Lucy over the past few hours. Tumnus decides not to hand over Lucy and instead tries to help Lucy get back to Earth, even though this is not allowed and is very restricted.
Lucy returns to the Professor's home, but none of her brothers and sisters believe what she claims to have had experienced. The next day, the four children are playing Hide and Go Seek and her older brother, Edmund, decides to hide in the closet. Edmund finds himself at the lamppost where Lucy was and meets this lady. This lady says that she is the "Queen of Narnia". The lady gives Edmund some candy, and says that if Edmund gets all of his siblings to come into Narnia, Edmund will be crowned Prince of Narnia. Lucy then enters the closet and finds Edmund standing by the lamppost. They both travel back to Earth and Edmund realized the lady who he was talking to was the White Witch. Edmund and Lucy both keep the secret that Edmund had traveled into Narnia, although Peter and Susan think that he did. Later on, all of the Pevensie children decide to visit Narnia, and Lucy guides the way towards Tumnus' house. When they arrive at Tumnus' house, they find out he has been arrested for treason after finding a note left on his table. When they leave, they are spotted by a man by the name of Mr. Beaver. Mr. Beaver leads the Pevensie's into his house and tell them a story about how two Sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve will take over the queen's power. Mr. Beaver also tells them about a lion named Aslan, who is the true ruler of Narnia. He explains how Aslan has been gone for a long time now but he is now "on the move again". While Mr. Beaver is talking about Aslan to the children, Edmund leaves and goes to the White Witch's home. When the White Witch finds out Edmund didn't bring his siblings, she gets mad.
Mr. Beaver realizes where Edmund had gone and leave the house with Pevensie's, and takes them to Aslan in Beaver's Camp. While they are making their way to Aslan, the White Witch breaks the spell where it is forever winter, and the snow starts melting. As the snow is fully melted, they encounter Father Christmas. Father Christmas rewards them with presents and gives Peter a sword. Once they make it to Beaver's Camp, Peter encouners Maugrim, who is the leader of the White Witch's wolves. Peter kills Maugrim and rescue Edmund just as the White Witch was about to kill him. The White Witch approaches Aslan and tries to form a truce that The White Witch has the right to kill Edmund because Edmund was a traitor, this was stated in the "deep magic from the dawn of time". Later that night, Aslan goes to the White Witch and asks to exchange his life for Edmund's. The White Witch agrees and ties Aslan up and stabs Aslan. The next morning, Aslan is revived due to a force called the "deeper magic from the dawn of time". The White Witch did not know about this magic and is shocked. In the morning, Aslan leads the Pevensies and all of the Narnian Army to take out the Witch's Army. The Narnian Army brutally crushes The Witch's Army, and Aslan once and for all ends The White Witch. The Pevensie Children are now the kings and queens of narnia. King Peter the Magnificient, Queen Susan the Gentle, King Edmund the Just, and Queen Lucy the Valiant.
Many years later, the Pevensie children, who are now adults are out exploring Narnia. They see the lamp post where they had first arrived, and the trees slowly start turning into coats. They then find themselves in the closet door, and they are now children.
